The Bhagavad Gita, according to Dr. Douglas Brooks, is the text / door through which all major yoga philosophy systems must pass. The "Gita" is a narrative that provides a rich contemplation of how yoga can help us to live well in the world. This special 6-week series will describe the history, story and concepts within the Gita. No prior experience with the Gita necessary, but you can read any translation before attending, if you wish. We will create a conversation, contemplation and journaling about ways to incorporate these teachings into daily life.

"Who am I?"
"Why am I here?"
"What is the true source of human suffering? Of joy?"
"What is karma?"
"What is enlightenment?"

If you're drawn to a yoga practice, it's likely you've noticed these epic thoughts swirling through your mind. In this course we will study a few of the source texts of yoga practice, theory, and philosophy-- including the Vedas, Upanishads, and Sutras.

Each of the four classes will begin with lively discussion around some of life's biggest questions in light of yoga philosophy, and end with a practice that can be a continued source for personal insight. No prior reading or experience with philosophy is necessary. Just bring your mat, a pen and paper and an open heart and mind.
